Professor of Nerdlesque heading to ECCC
I’ve scheduled a clandestine exchange of a 3-day pass to Emerald City Comicon and finally sitting down to figure out my strategy.
I’m a newbie comic reader but an old school fangirl. I’ve headed to ECCC for the last few years and my experiences have been mostly very good. Once GeekGirlCon came on the scene, my opinion overall has evolved a bit. It’s amazing how different the two feel, for all the obvious reasons. I definitely enjoy attending both and will continue to do so. Yet, GGC…you own my heart.
Here is my personal to-do list for this weekend.
• Buy Brandon Bird art inspired by Nick Cage.
• Hang out with Baby LeStrange and surf the Con wave.
• Take copious notes for Nerdlesque: The New Burlesque at the Variant Cover Girls Burlesque. How does a Con show compare to the Summer of Nerdlesque?
• Hope to hear the song Booty Do Math live from Kirby Krackle.
• Catch a glimpse of Gillian Anderson and learn a valuable lesson about smart, sassy, fierce women. Not since Murphy Brown and Dr. Frank-n-Furter as a pop culture character influenced me as much as Dana Scully. I may not be a forensic scientist but Scully still guides me in many ways. #WWSD
• Felicia Day – aka Nerd Oprah!
• NW Gay Geeks and GeekGirlCon game night with beer aka Excelsior!
• Again, copious notes at “I Can Be a Geek and Feminine” panel.
• Find a new comic that seemingly speaks only to me and buy it and read it soooo hard.
